Goodwill Industries of the Valleys is headquartered in Roanoke and serves 31 counties and 13 cities in the New River, Roanoke, and Shenandoah Valleys. Its mission is to help people and families in our community achieve a better life through work and independence.
In 2017, Goodwill served 44,917 youth, adults, and seniors who needed assistance getting back to work and gaining greater independence, placed 3,494 people into jobs in our community, and helped individuals attain 1,379 industry recognized credentials that will allow them to be more competitive in their job search and to find higher paying employment.
Whether a person needs a gentle push to help them along their road to independence, or a guiding hand through the entire process, Goodwill programs are designed to meet the needs of all who need help. Individuals eligible for assistance include those with mental and physical disabilities, at risk youth, disadvantaged adults on a low income, those who have lost their job due to company closing or layoff, and income eligible seniors struggling to re-enter the workforce.
Goodwill operates 35 retail stores and 2 outlet stores, which rely on the generosity of the communities for donations of clothing and household goods. Revenues from the stores support the mission of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.
